Wind Turbines

Greenthinking are agents for the Segen range of Wind Turbines in Devon, Cornwall and the Blackdown Hills. Greenthinking and Segen are able to assess whether your site and wind speed is suitable for a wind turbine

If you do have a suitable site then we are able to advise on the most suitable turbine and tower height, and provide assistance in applying for planning permission.  We will manage the process from enquiry through to installation and commissioning.

As with any renewable energy system, it is essential that you receive advice which is realistic and accurate to ensure that your system makes good economic sense as well as benefiting the environment.

We offer eight turbines:

Ø       Kestrel 600W & 1kW

Ø       Skystream 1.8kW

Ø       Iskra 5kW

Ø       Westwind 10kW & 20kW

Ø       Vestas 75kW & 225kW

Iskra AT5

A 5kW wind turbine, the Iskra is one of the most efficient and cost effective turbines in its class. The AT5 generates exceptional levels of power even in relatively low wind conditions.

Skystream 3.7

A 1.8kW wind turbine specifically designed

for grid-connected homes and small business use. This revolutionary new design includes a built-in inverter and control system, making it easy to install, use and maintain while the clean
looks and near-silent operation make it perfectly suited to residential properties.

The usual process

  • Register your interest on the Segen Website at www.segen.co.uk

  • Greenthinking will telephone you and make an initial assessment of the suitability of your site for the wind turbine of your interest.

  • Greenthinking will carry out a thorough survey* of your property in order to assess:

  • Suitable locations for a turbine

  • Local obstructions to wind flow

  • Site access

  • Electrical connection, and room for the inverters

  • Suitable route of cables

  • How much of the work you would like to do yourself

  • Whether  there are likely to be any objections to planning permission

  • Greenthinking will provide you with the Site Survey and a pack to help guide you through the process of obtaining planning permission.

  • Segen will provide a full quote for the provision of the turbine, tower and all work required.

  • Should you wish to proceed, and you obtain planning permission and approval for available grants, then you order your turbine.

  • You will soon be generating your own electricity.

* Please note that the survey usually takes several hours to complete and a further 3 – 4 hours to write the report and prepare the Planning Support Document. For this reason there is a charge, usually £250 for domestic sized turbines.

How much will it cost

Current costs of Segen turbines can be found on the Segen website.
