Solar Water Heating

Solar water heating systems (also known as solar thermal) use the sun’s energy to provide domestic hot water. The government’s figures are that a well designed system should deliver about 60% of your hot water requirements.

There are many systems available (including those specifically designed for swimming pools). Greenthinking can help you to decide whether Solar Water Heating is appropriate for your property, and if so, advise on the range of products we have available and which would suit your budget and your needs.  We can arrange for a no obligation quote, system design, ordering, installation and commissioning.

We can offer 3 options:

Ø       We will happily supply the equipment only - we offer DIY kits and can provide your installer all the technical information they need.

Ø       We can install the Solar Thermal equipment leaving your plumber or electrician to connect it to your hot water system.

Ø       We can offer a complete installation - Site survey, design, delivery, and installation

Note: the VAT and warranty may alter depending on the service provided.

The usual process:

Contact Greenthinking to discuss the suitability of your project and available options.

We will conduct a short phone survey to ascertain your requirements.

We will arrange for our local representative to conduct a site visit and survey of your property.

We will produce a specification and price, based on your requirements, and liaise with your architect or contractor if required.

We will then provide a written quote and advise you of any grants available. If you accept our quote and obtain the grants (if available), we will commence with the business of designing and ordering your system from the manufacturers.

Delivery and installation of your system can then take place.

Continued after-installation support is of course available. Customers are welcome to telephone at any time with questions and queries. Trained installers carry out any maintenance and servicing required.

How much does it cost?

We can provide a guide price from a brief phone survey.

We have an ethical code of conduct and do not apply any pressure to buy.

How long after first deposit payment will the system be installed?

There is a short lead-time on our products being installed; with some products we can work to a 6-week schedule. We always try to work within the requirements of the client and a split payment scheme is in force.

We ask for a 10% deposit to secure a date of choice.
14 days before installation we ask for a second deposit of 50%.
The balance is due on commissioning. When payment is made you will be able to claim your grant (if available).

Evacuated tubes or flat plate solar panel?

In most instances we would recommend the flat plate solar panel. Flat plates have none of the potential problems of multiple joints and individual tube failure which could occur with an evacuated tube system.
